Ava laughed, eyeing him with a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. "Oooooooooo..." she said almost exactly like students did in a class when one classmate insulted the other, "You do think you're a little dangerous bad boy don't you?" she spoke of him more as if he were a little kid who was aspiring to be an astronaut than a man who was trying to be a murderer, and continued her amused body language further with a smile, crossing her legs that dangled over the edge and crossed her arms over her chest.
He was nowhere near as dangerous as many people she'd met at Sangvene. Sure, she could probably fit him in the general profile of 'people you don't wanna meet in a dark alley at night.', but compared to most of the people in that category-he was a sexy little puppy. Hardly competition to the rest of them.
Speaking of his attractiveness-she was noticing his intensifying. Something was definitely up here. She thought back to her first crushes. Tall and lithe with spiky blonde hair. Light eyes such as hazel or grey. Then she thought of Jeremy. Six foot and seven inches of thin handsome, sexiness. His lithe figure and thin face were supported with large, light green eyes and his hair was thin and smooth hair you just wanted to touch and feel all day. His smile had made her heart sing and his hands, his strong hands had felt so good when they caressed her cheek or tucked a few of her golden locks behind her ear. He had been perfect, but looked almost nothing like Amri. His skin was pale, smooth and soft. It glowed in the moonlight and illuminated him on their walks. His hair was much lighter than Amri's-a dirty blonde that was eventually died brown at Ava's continued and persistent requests. He was even taller than Amri, if even only by a few inches. No-Jeremy had been the perfect man for her. Had been. Wasn't anymore of course but her preferences had always been the same. Not only that, but Jeremy had a University degree in theoretical physics and was also a master at many different martial arts. Not only that but he had been trained in massage therapy, and gave the most amazing massages. The point was, Jeremy was one of the hottest, most attractive and intelligent guys she had ever met. Amri? Not so much. Yes, something was definitely up. Ava needed to find out what.
"Oh, and you don't even know half of my sob sob story-pretty boy." she said with a smirk, "Full of love, loss and heartache. A perfect little twisted fairytale." she gave a long, dramatic sigh and gave a shrug, "But that of course is none of your business." she finished her dramatic speech with a little hair flip for good show-womanship.

“For it not being my business you sure do seem to love talking about it,” he said, talking as if he thought there was something behind it. People around here sure did seem to be in a rush to reveal their life stories, whereas he kept his simple, rich and living the countryside of Ukraine with parents who loved him, that's all people needed to know. However he'd told Yuliya that on the off chance she ran into someone and he wasn't there and she felt scared she should say she had a brother, hopefully that might scare someone off. She probably wouldn't tell people more than that though, and it wasn't like when she told people about herself that she was looking for attention, words just slipped out of her mouth.
“Me, I don't really care as much if people sympathize with me, I'm not that big on sympathy.” He was starting to get bored of this girl. Creepy hot vampire girl who thought she had an excuse to be all creepy and bitchy cause she had a bad childhood, yada yada yada, he'd heard it all before, and hopefully he wouldn't be on the receiving end of a life story, since he'd found the most surefire way to be told someone's life story was for them to say it was none of his business. Really they were just hoping to pique his curiosity so he'd beg them to tell him whatever they wanted to say, but Amri didn't fall for that, not ever. Instead he picked a rock off the ground to toss in his hand as he leaned against the post, no longer even looking at her.

"You brought it up." she told him, she never did understand how people complained about getting what they asked for. He brought up sob stories, that what he got. He even brought up his own. What a hypocrite. He even stopped paying attention to her. They were getting bored of each other, if Ava wasn't curious about his strange allure, then she'd simply leave and never think of him again.
Unlike what Amri thought, she actually was in no mood to share her life story. It really was none of his business, and she wasn't planning or going to make it his business. She didn't usually share the details of her past, only to a choice few-all of which were in her gang and were much to afraid she'd rip their heads off if they shared it all. She simply said she had been raised in New York in a rough part of town, perhaps hinted that it wasn't exactly an easy life, and told them to mind their own skin and stay out of hers. Once and a while she might have added she killed her own father, usually only to hint that she didn't care whom you were-you ticked her off she'd kill you. Even in her father did a little more than simply tick her off.
She pulled up her legs from the side of the awning and laid on her side instead, so her head was over the pole he was leaning against. "Sympathy? Did I ask for that? I don't want sympathy. That's for pathetic little kids that can't hold their ground and don't want to die a horrible, bloody death. And who would have sympathy for a little rich boy anyways? Did your parents give you too high of an allowance?" she snickered, resting her cheek on the metal frame above him and gazing up to the sky. "Oh, poor little Amri." she said more as if she was speaking about a three-legged kitten than an overgrown ball of muscle.

“Not even, I had a ten thousand dollar limit on my credit card so if I wanted anything more than I'd have to ask, which was super annoying, especially if I was at an auction or something.” He was joking around but he remembered one time that ten thousand dollar limit really had annoyed him. Most of the expensive things he bought were motorcycles or cars and he'd have time to go back and ask his parents, but once he'd seen this beautiful akhal-teke colt and he was going to buy it as a present for Yuliya since his parents had forgotten it was her birthday but it was 30,000 dollars starting price and it was an auction so he knew it'd be gone by the time he got back. It had been a shame. Instead he'd gotten her a green tree boa, an emperor scorpion, and a poison dart frog since she'd said she felt a lack of reptiles in her life (Amri didn't know frogs were amphibians.).
That was a problem. In his whole escaping the camp with Yuliya plan, he never thought about what he'd do once they got out. He'd be fine just leaving and finding some place to stay in the woods...but Yuliya...she wanted to go back to the sunflowers and the books and most importantly her animals, especially the horses. Maybe he could just make her wait outside while he went back since his parents wouldn't call the cops on him and he could just steal all the animals and they'd book it out there. Yuliya knew the countryside well..they could live there.
He looked up with disdain at Ava, the girl he decided had probably never had a care for anyone but herself her whole life. “Have you ever seen ten thousand dollars? It doesn't actually look like that much, even if it's in hundreds.”

Ava wanted to laugh, a ten thousand dollar limit? Ten thousand dollars to Ava sounded more like a million to many people. With ten thousand dollars, Ava wouldn't have needed to walk the streets penniless and starving to death. She wouldn't have needed to move in with Jeremy and become a human refrigerator. She could have left the city on a bus, gone to a smaller town or city, rented an apartment or something, get a job as a waitress. She would have been normal. His allowance could have given Ava a different life. And people wondered why she though rich people were disgusting.
Ava looked down at him, her eyebrow raised at his disdain look. Rich prick, she thought darkly, "I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Money won't get you anywhere in Sangvene. Only power does that, and Amri?" she looked down at him with her own disdain, "I have power." she said, turning from him to the night sky above. It was a rather pretty sight, the sky and stars and glowing moon. So romantic. What a strange feeling it was, to be half-daydreaming of romance while in the presence of Amri.

Oh people, people getting intimidated by him and trying to re-establish their dominance over him that they never had to begin with. It was just plain silly to him the way people tried to prove they were better than him because it never worked, they always managed to screw it up somehow just like her. Maybe he was just too confident or maybe it was because other peoples' opinions made him laugh, but he did laugh, quite hard at her. He folded over at the middle with his laughter and he could hear it echoing off the building. It took him a few moments to regain his composure and wipe his eyes and straighten himself.
“Sweetie, you're the queen of a little hill in the shadow of mountains,” he said as if he was speaking to someone much younger than him but without a condescending overtone, “And me? Maybe I don't have whatever meager power you have, but I have the freedom to go wherever the hell I please and do whatever the hell I want without worrying about having to take care of anyone.” He rolled his eyes. Although the part about not worrying about taking care of anyone wasn't necessarily true, the spirit of his words he felt strongly. He didn't want to join a stupid gang and he definitely didn't want to be the leader of one. No one had power in this place, not even a delusional little vampire girl.

Ava pushed herself gracefully from off the awning, landing in front of Amri and pivoting her feet to walk right up to him. She was in no way intimidated by his height, but she walked right up to him so there were only two inches between them. She narrowed her gaze and looked straight into the taller guy, whom was only six inches taller than her anyways. "Well, this little hill happens to be the place you're stuck in for the rest of your damn life-so I suggest that you maybe treat me with a teensy bit more respect. I have more power than you think-little Amri." the more power referencing to the fact that she had the warden wrapped around her finger and could have him and any of his allies jailed if she simply asked of it.
Ava gave another smile, and a small shrug to give it a little more meaning, "Who says I don't have the freedom to go wherever I please or do whatever I want? I'm doing it now, aren't I? And I don't need to worry about my gang. They can handle their own pathetic lives-they don't need me to coddle them all night." she said, rolling her eyes. He obviously didn't know what it meant to be Ava Lynch around here.

“You have power that's given to you on a loan, but why would the warden need you in particular? You're replaceable,” Amri said darkly, starting to get more and more fed up with her. Did she really think she was the queen of this place? Cause he didn't find her in the least bit threatening, there was nothing he was scared of that she could do to him. All she was was a girl who did the warden's dirty work for him in exchange for a few luxuries, luxuries he didn't care about since he usually had plenty of food, and apparently she was proud of being a hired goon. Well good for her, but she shouldn't expect other people to be proud of her as well.
“Whereas my parents pay large sums of money to keep that warden that has you wrapped around his finger wrapped around their finger. And if you belong to him and he belongs to my parents, who belong to me...well then sweetie, you belong to me. So sorry if I don't bow down.” Time to get the little queen bee off her high horse, and that's totally what she was. She was the head of her little clique in high school and thought that meant everybody had to do what she wanted, but his parents were the school's major donors. No one in that place wanted to make him mad.

Ava shrugged, backing away a few steps with a smirk and her arms open. What he said was partially true, though she didn't agree with the angle he was trying to get at. She gave a laugh, having to keep her composure, considering how ridiculous he sounded. Little rich boy thought he could simply buy his way through life. "Oh, oh, you own me-do you?" she said, laughter dripping in her tone. She gave a scoff, "Prove it to me! Make me do something, master, your almighty commanding power over me!".
There was one thing that Ava did not like (over all things she didn't like...), and that was being 'owned'. All her life she was owned. She was owned by her pathetic father for years and years, used like a rag and beaten like an abused animal. Then there was Jeremy, who also 'owned' her. Not that she had minded as much at the time as he took better care of his so called 'belongings'. No, Ava was DONE with being owned. She was her own damn person down and didn't need any pathetic mortal or immortal alike to take claim on her anymore. She could stand on her own two feet and keep care of herself.
Ava shook her head, "The warden doesn't own me, you insufferable oaf." she said with scorn, though she didn't speak like a yelling, angry, bitch. Mostly, she was trying to contain her laughter which was mixed with anger, but the amusement was much more in her blood than rage. "I don't need the warden. I can catch my own prey and keep my own hide intact. If anything, he needs me."

“Why does he need you? Any vampire or even any supernatural with half a brain could do your job, nor would you be able to do it if it weren't for all the gifts the warden gives your gang, but he could've easily chosen another one and then where would you be? Powerless and hungry.” Someone sure was suffering from a case of megalomania. He was severely hoping that she was just putting on this show for him so he'd think she had it all together because she couldn't seriously think she had any power in this place. She was the puppet and the warden was the puppet master, she'd just fooled herself into thinking that meant something.
“If he doesn't own you then why do you do his dirty work?” Amri was in no denial about his position. For most of his life he'd been a puppet, he was played by his parents to play the loving son at parties and social events in exchange for them not doing anything worse to Yuliya, but at least he admitted it. He knew he didn't have any control in that situation because he wasn't her legal guardian which meant if he wanted her to be treated like a decent human being he had to earn it for her. And for some reason his parents had mistaken the pretend love he gave them in front of other people for real love and then never took him seriously. “Maybe you'll be happier when you get out of your denial,” he said as he turned before he started to walk away, but he turned again to say one last thing to her, “then again, you might just realize what a worthless and pathetic excuse you are for a person.”

Ava mentally calmed herself down, last thing she needed was to snap and get herself injured or worse. So she took a deep breath and shook her head, a twinkle in her eye as she spoke, "You think you could do my job, hmm? Walk into my home and get my people to do what you tell them? They'd laugh you out of the building-if they didn't kill you first. I have what money can't buy. And I'm utilizing what I have to get what I want. Can any puppet say that." she emphasised the word 'puppet'. "And I wouldn't call it dirty work. More... my service. My paid service. Not a puppet doing it's master's dirty work. Whereas, whom would know-or care for the matter, if I ripped your heart out of your chest right now? How would your pathetic parents even know if you were dead or not?"
She smirked and gave a shrug, letting her hands fall to her sides, "But I don't need to prove myself to you." she said with a scoff, she then turned away from him and walked away. She didn't have anything to say to the feeble little supernatural. His only motive was to try and piss her off, and it had worked for a minute there. Now she couldn't care for him at all, he was stupid and didn't know what he was talking about at all. Whatever, it wasn't her loss to leave the idiot in the dark. If she was lucky one of her own would rip him to shreds. Just to spite the warden and his stupid guards. They thought that they could control her and her people? And that's what everyone else thought? That wasn't the reputation she wanted. Or needed. Perhaps it was time to get a little more blood on her hands, not that they weren't already caked in it.
