"Oh, um..." Carmindy thought for a minute about her response. How ought she to answer? She didn't think she should just spill everything, she doubted Hanako was asking for all the details. She took a deep breath and looked down at her hands, rubbing them together a bit, suddenly finding her fingernails interesting. "I'm...not exactly sure. My Dad took me to the Headquarters suddenly a few weeks ago, and I found myself here." She knew that giving away how short of a time she'd really spent at Sangvene probably wasn't a good idea, but she felt like she could trust Hanako.

---------She was very new. Considering she was taken in two weeks ago, Hanako guessed approximately nine days since actually entering the camp. There were all kinds of admissions tests they sent the 'criminals' through. Identification of species, danger level tests, blood samples, profiling, and the occasional interrogation for the lucky ones. Most were treated as animals and thrown into the camp without even a change to defend their case or win the favor of the administration. ---------All of this was a passing thought in Hanako's mind which she filed neatly away before it was overridden by her shock at what Carmindy had said. "You're dad sent you here?!" She was genuinely horrified. The Hogo-sha would never betray their own in that manner. Her father would never hand her over to the terrors of Sangvene.

Carmindy shifted uncomfortably in her chair. She was sure her father had no idea what Sangvene was like, otherwise, he never would have brought her to the Headquarters, right? While she didn't particularly like her father, she still trusted him, to a point. "Yeah...he...told me that he was going to get me some help," she said quietly, "It didn't turn out the way either of us had expected, I suppose." She knew her father had just been trying to do the right thing. Her telepathy could be painful, even debilitating at times. Except now, David had shown her how to use and control it to some point. She sucked in a small breath at that thought. She missed David.

---------Hanako, still in a mild state of shock, shook her head in disbelief. "What?" She raised an eyebrow. "Even in Japan we know about Sangvene." She looked in Carmindy's eyes with a serious expression across her face. "They lied to him about where you were going or he lied to you." She looked up at the ceiling thoughtfully. "Or both," she muttered. ---------Her demeanor changed to a more light-hearted mood and she crossed her arms, grinning. "In any case, you are here now. Welcome to Sangvene, Carmi-chan. Despite its name the Rebellion is one of the most loyal gangs. We do not betray like the Nightwalkers or sit to the side like the Earth Circle. We don't spy on one another like the Alliance and we are not ex..exclusive like the Pack. But," she turned serious once more. "Once you join, if you ever leave with information, turn against us, or act as a double agent, we will kill you. Think about it before you join. We will never betray you unless you first betray us."

Carmindy swallowed and looked away from her, a bit taken aback. So far she hadn't had anyone who had made any death threats in her entire life, so... that was a bit new. She shifted in her chair, not really knowing what to say. "Okay." Her mind drifted to what she had said earlier. Her father wouldn't have lied to her! Would he? She didn't even know anymore...but somehow her trusting nature led her to believe that it was him who had to have been lied to. She couldn't bring herself to think that her own father would've lied to her like that and put her in a place like Sangvene.

---------"Like I said, think about it," Hanako said without a smile. "Join and be loyal or don't join and go away. Tony usually gives people a few hours to chose." She leaned back in her chair and looked up at the ceiling. "Are you any good at telepathy?" she asked curiously. It could be a useful to have another telepath in the gang. Carmindy seemed sweet enough and not the traitorous sort, then again appearances could be deceiving. A new recruit had a few hours to join or leave, yes, but there was also the test period for anywhere from a week to a month depending on the person. They could not risk betrayal and in a place like Sangvene. It was hard enough to stay away without backstabbers and traps every which way.

Carmindy reached up, twisting her hair around one finger as she thought. "I don't know," she said quietly, her brow knitted together in concentration. "I was never trained...but I suppose I pick things up quickly enough. I can poke around people's s easily and I've just learned to block them out of my own mind." She shrugged and continued twisting her hair in reflection. "What do you powers do...besides the aging quickly, I mean?"

---------Hanako waved her hand dismissively. "Maho... eeeeh... Magic? Yeah. Magic stuff. But not like a witch or elemental. I don't use spells and I don't talk to plants." She lifted her hand and with a wave a few cherry petals seemed to appear out of thin air, swirling through the air as if connected to her hand by invisible strings. "See?" A basic summoning of flower petals was so natural to her that it did not require any kind of spoken command. Since as long as she could remember, the cherries were her favorites and she was always calling them up to play with them. ---------"How did you learn to block people out?" she asked, idly twirling the small cluster of petals through the air.

Carmindy watched in fascination as the wispy flower blossoms appeared seemingly out of nowhere. She kind of wished she could do that... it would be much better than being a Telepath, probably. As she watched them swirl, she ran a hand through her hair, pulling it out of her face and suddenly wishing she had a ribbon to tie it back with. It was getting to be pretty nasty after days without a place to shower. She made a small face, not wanting to think about that at the moment. In response to the casual question, she answered cryptically, "A friend." She didn't think it would be wise to mention David here.

---------The attitude change caught Hanako's attention. It was the small signs that gave it away, the shifting of the eyes, the cryptic answer. With a wave of the hand the flower petals disappeared and she cross her arms again, looking Carmindy in the eyes. Her hair turned just a touch darker, hardly noticeable. "A friend here at Sangvene or do you mean someone taught you right before you came to Sangvene? Do not lie." She stressed the last part.

Out of her shy instincts, she avoided Hanako's piercing gaze. She disliked being looked like that immensely. Not only did looking someone in the eye make it increasingly difficult to block out their thoughts - it meant all of their attention was on her, and she felt uncomfortable with that. She fiddled with a napkin that was on the edge of the table, suddenly finding folding it incredibly entertaining. "Sangvene," she finally answered.

---------Hanako smiled and uncrossed her arms, her hair lightened, but then dulled slightly. She became worried at Carmindy's answer. There were all kinds of people at Sangvene, good, bad, neutral, clearly defined, unreadable, deceptive, honest, and everything in between. She had come to like Carmindy over this short time and wanted very much for her to not be a snitch or spy. ---------"I need you to tell me who," she said carefully. "I will not hurt him but I need to know so I can trust you or not."

Carmindy's eyes grew to the size of small grapefruits. She didn't think she should tell her. She struggled with it for a few minutes as Hanako looked at her, and Carmindy was so distraught with trying to decide how to answer that she didn't even bother to look away. Tendrils of Japanese curled around the edges of thoughts. She frowned, her brow pinching as her grip on her blocks lost concentration while she tried to work out this conundrum. She didn't even realize that she was murmuring, "Quiet, be quiet...please just shut up, I can't think," over and over like a mantra before her gaze finally refocused on Hanako and she said timidly, "His name is David."

---------Hanako frowned when the girl began muttering to herself but gave it little thought. All kinds of people were found at Sangvene, and even if Carmindy was a little bit crazy, at least she wasn't screaming and waving knives in their faces. ---------At last she answered and Hanako relaxed, leaning back again and smiling. All the worry faded and her hair returned to its normal shade of cheery light pink. She let out a sigh of relief. "Ah! Shandeler-san! He a good man. If he trusts you then I trust you unless you give me reason to not trust you." She was silent for a moment, thinking, before she sat up straight again. "What did your dad do for work?" she asked, genuinely curious and nonthreatening.

She relaxed when Hanako did, and a small, gentle smile spread across her face. Everything would be okay then, neither she nor David would get in trouble for this. She'd been worried that since David was a guard, the Rebellion wouldn't be too happy that Carmindy had made friends with him, but it seemed now that everything would be okay. She allowed herself to relax and lock that little door in her mind, leaving her able to think clearly again in silence. She blinked at Hanako's question and then shrugged. "He's a freelance detective-" she paused and then smiled a bit, "kind of like Sherlock Holmes. He was always solving the case based on hunches nobody else could see."
