Tony was sitting in his bookshelf 'room', pouring over a map of the camp. He seriously could use somebody with the necessary shifting skills or stealth and lock-picking skills (or all three) to get into the guard's lounge. The guards had recently changed shift times and they needed to know that new schedule. That was absolutely imperative. He supposed he could wait a few days to nail it down, but Hanako and he were supposed to be heading out tonight for supplies, their stuff was running low, and they'd also heard about some tech on the edge of town that might be helpful for Daphne. All that could be gone by the time they got to it if they waited.
He sighed and ran his hands through his now-short hair. Tonight was going to be far more difficult than he'd anticipated. He hoped he wouldn't have any more complications to the day... he hated complications.
The secret knock resounded through the Library, and Tony paused. Nobody was out. Who was it? He walked down the stairs and met Hanako walking out of her space in the Library. "Nobody in the gang are outside, right?" He asked her, just to confirm. "Might be somebody who wants to join, then..."

---------Hanako was pacing and when Hanako paced it was more of a roaming about from one end of the main room to the other and then upstairs and then down into the basement and then back up to the ground floor. She was about to go back up the stairs when Tony caught her as he was coming down. The knock at the door a few moments ago being his beacon. ---------"Or invade or negotiated or maybe just spit in our faces and laugh at us," she said, a bit humorously yet still keeping a certain amount of seriousness in her tone. A quick glance around showed that the other gang members were waiting on their leader for the word to open the door, save the ones who were too wrapped up in their work or just didn't care. ---------After some delay, Hanako finally caught on to his implications. "Oh! Right. I'll get it." Hurriedly she skipped over to the door, her steps swift and light as a dancers. When she reached the entrance she stood up tall and opened one of the wooden double doors just enough to see outside. It was a little girl, she could be no more than fifteen, but one thing that anyone who lived in Sangvene learned was that looks could be deceiving. She eyed the girl suspiciously. "Yes?"

Carmindy bit her lip as she waited for the door to be answered. Had she knocked right? What if something happened? What if they thought she was a spy, or killed her? David wasn't here now to protect her. She was rubbish at defending herself. So, if this went wrong, she was utterly and totally screwed.
She shifted to wrap her arms around herself as the door opened. The person who opened it was unlike anybody Carmindy had ever seen. The first thing she noticed was the hair. Pink. Of all things. Pink hair. Carmindy swallowed and glanced around before realizing that young woman was staring at her expectantly.
"Um. I'd like to join?" Her Scottish brogue shone through even more when she kept her voice small, for some odd reason.

As soon as Tony heard the quiet voice from the door, he walked over from where he'd been eyeing the proceedings silently. He gently pushed past Hanako and studied the girl.
She was small. A lot smaller than he would've expected from anyone in Sangvene. Why she wanted to join the rebellion was beyond him. He had no idea what she'd have to offer. The trouble was, he didn't know anything about her. He didn't know if she would steal their things or murder them in her sleep. She looked innocent enough, with her slight frame and large, round brown eyes... but... he still wasn't sure.
He needed to know what he abilities were before anything else. She didn't look like a vampire, but if she was a werewolf or a fey or anything else of the sort, he'd need to know. If she was any sort of elemental, while he wouldn't mind one of them being in the Rebellion, they'd probably be better directed towards one of the other gangs. This was the gang for all the useful misfits, and he wasn't sure if she qualified as one of those, yet.
"Come in, shut the door behind you." He said shortly before grunting, "Excuse us," and pulled Hanako aside. He'd like to have Daphne's opinion since she'd been here even longer than him, but he usually trusted Hanako's instincts as well, "I want to know more before I decide... but... what do you think?"

---------Hanako raised her eyebrows in suprise when he asked her opinion. "Eh? Me?" She frowned and thought for a moment. The girl looked innocent enough, but looks could be deceiving. However, when it came to this girl, she was either very timid and nervous or a very good actress. She looked her over again, taking in her appearance and thinking over it. ---------Finally she turned back to Tony. "I think she's fine. Do you want me to show her around until you're ready to inter- uh interview her?" She smiled hopefully. She actually rather liked showing new recruits around. They were either adorable and naive or were worthy of a fight. In either case, Hanako was no the sort to pass up such an opportunity.

Tony considered this for a moment. He trusted Hanako. He also knew that if this tiny girl gave her any trouble, she'd most likely be able to handle her in a fight. "Go ahead. Gives me time to think." He took one more parting glance at the girl, who seemed to be standing a little awkwardly off to the side, taking in her surroundings. She hadn't much but a duffle bag, and he vaguely wondered what was inside it. After a few more moments of consideration and careful observation of her appearance, demeanor, etc., he disappeared to the upstairs balcony to watch how she and Hanako got on.

---------Hanako grinned broadly at his acceptance of her proposal. Turning around she skipped cheerfully back to the timid little mouse of a girl. Crossing her arms, her expression became overly serious in a almost teasing fashion. The first stage of feeling out a potential member was seeing what yanked their chain and what made them happy. ---------"Hanako Tamura. Rebellion. Fourteen. Hogo-sha." She stated her facts in an excessively formal manner, waiting to see how the girl reacted. Was she the order-follower? The rebel? The shy type? The snarky? "Name. Age. Species." she ordered, almost militantly.

Carmindy was caught off guard and slightly intimidated. Her arms tightened around herself and she involuntarily inched back a bit. She wasn't sure how much she'd enjoy being here if this was actually how this person was. Hopefully she was just putting up a front to see how she'd react... "Carmindy Frost, sixteen, Telepath." She replied quietly, sparing a glance up at Hanako and quirking an eyebrow.

---------Hanako managed to keep her serious face for three seconds. Only three seconds. Then she cracked. A wide grin came over her face and she laughed. "Shy, brave, aaand," she pointed dramatically at Carmindy, "curious! This is great!" She spun around and in the same motion began hurrying along away from the door. "Follow me, Carmi-chan!" She added the honorific despite being by literal standards, two years younger. Physically and mentally, she was practically an adult, though some such as Amri would argue she acted like a toddler.

Carmindy blinked and let her mind putter, stop, sputter a bit, and then restart. Okay. Hanako was odd...and maybe this wouldn't be so bad. She seemed friendly enough. She shouldered her duffle bag and shoved her hands in her pockets and followed Hanako to wherever they were going. A small smile twitched at the corners of her mouth as she observed the pink-haired girl. Pink hair. That was different. She wasn't sure if she'd ever get used to that. She wondered what exactly a Hogo-sha was. It made her kind of nervous not knowing the powers Hanako possessed. Hopefully she wasn't some sort of weird species of vampire or anything else that could pretend to be nice and then murder you in your sleep. The thing that baffled Carmindy the most was that Hanako didn't look fourteen. She looked like a... well... adult. Maybe it had to do with her species? She had a myriad of questions, but finally settled for a statement: "You don't look fourteen."

---------Past the spiral stairs, into the smaller room, through the door to the left and they were in the computer room. They still called it that despite all of the computers having long since ceased to work. What ones were not damaged in some way found use with Daphne in her closet of a lab. What was left was a room with a bunch of tables where people trained and talked aside from at dinner. Everyone in the gang received one meal a day as a mass. Everything else was each-man-for-himself unless you could find someone to help you. ---------Hanako headed towards a table and sat down in one of the chairs, crossing her arms. "And you don't look fifteen by my standards." She gestured for the girl to take a seat. "A lot of races age slowly. Mine age quickly."

"Oh." That made some sense, Carmindy supposed. She glanced around. The gang was really quite large. She didn't know what she had expected, but probably not this. She'd maybe expected them to be more hostile, to maybe have tests or something that she would've had to go through. She certainly didn't expect a bubbly, pink-haired Asian girl to suddenly take her under her wing. "By the way... I apologize if I accidentally slip into your mind. I'm still getting used to my powers." She wasn't sure if that was something she should've said... but she felt it was polite to give due warning.

---------Hanako became a touch worried. She did not care for people poking about her thoughts. She considered the girl's warning for a moment. She could not control her powers? Judging by her age, it was likely her powers had only recently kicked in, at least Hanako thought as much from the small amount of knowledge she had concerning Carmindy's kind. ---------"Hmmm... Do you know Japanese?" she asked. If they girl did, there was no hope for privacy. Though, for the most part, Hanako did share her opinions and emotions with the world, there were some thoughts she wished to keep in her mind, especially since they could not fully trust this girl yet.

Carmindy hoped that her warning wouldn't put Hanako off too much. As much as she was afraid of everybody around here and probably a bit of an odd-one-out, she still wanted a friend. Even just one. "No..." she wasn't sure if she should know Japanese or not. She'd taken Scottish Gaelic in secondary school, as it was mandatory, but...she hadn't been very good at it and didn't remember very much. Besides, she was almost positive that Scottish Gaelic had absolutely nothing to do with Japanese.

---------Hanako waited as Carmindy hesitantly replied. Her voice was unsure, as if she were worried about the reaction to her response. Hanako merely smiled. "Ne, ne." She waved her hand as if brushing off the subject. ---------"How long have you been at Sangvene?" she asked, suddenly changing the subject. She was curious how long this little girl had been on her own, if she had. It was completely possible that she came from other gang or worked with a partner previously. They had a few of those. When your teammate dies or grows too old and you are left on your own, sometimes joining a gang is the only option for the weak or unresourceful.
