She could hear the rain outside. It was so cool, amazing really. The sound was as clear and distinct as if she was outside herself, staring out into the dark sky. The hallway was dark, and stinky. She wondered how often the stupid staff at this hotel actually cleaned it.
As Ava walked down the hall, her mind raced. It had been months. Months of searching and wondering and finally, finally she was here. She could smell him, the lingering scent of her love. She had never smelt it as a vampire, but with her heightened senses now she could still recognize it anywhere. It was intoxicating, his scent brought her memories that had been fading. The feeling as he gently caressed her cheek, all those nights in the park or his apartment-practising how to protect herself. She had missed it so much over the past while, but she held onto the fact she'd be able to experience it all again. She had envisioned seeing him again over and over, how the kiss would feel, the look of relief in his eyes. It would be a perfect moment.
She walked up to the door and knocked. It was like the world stopped, in slow motion he opened the door. The look on his face was not of relief, or love. It was... fear? anger? she couldn't tell. Then beside him, a pretty girl with black, radiant hair and mocha coloured skin appeared beside him. It only took her a heartbeat to put two and two together.
The ground let out beneath he and she stood outside of a house. If the rain was loud inside it was cacophonous out here. She was soaking wet and as she approached the house she saw her eyes in the broken window. Their icy blue tinge was flashing blood red. Inside she was terrified, but she had run too long. Much too long. "Oh, look. It's the little bitch..." the smell of bourbon, whisky, vodka... it swarmed her senses and made her dizzy. She couldn't stand she was falling, falling. She gasped for breath but she only swallowed a mouthful of blood. Everywhere she was drowning in it. Rain was pounding on the cement at her brain. Over and over.
Ava gasped for air, she was lying on her couch and the room was dark. She rubbed her forehead and ran her fingers through her hair as she sat up. She looked to the clock on her desk and it glowed 8:57. It wouldn't even be dark yet, why was she up. It wasn't natural for vampires to be up before sundown. Of coarse, you could be up in the schoolhouse. All the windows had long been painted black so no light came through. Still, she wanted to just sleep for now so she'd be fully awake for the whole night. What had woken her? Then a pounding was heard from the door, she massaged her temples and got off the couch. She walked to her door and opened it, leaning on the door frame with her eyes half open. "You know even I need my beauty sleep."

Keir's strong long fingers twirled the black hilt-ed dagger that was usually tucked away under his button up shirt. Tonight though his strong muscular arms were visible, for his over shirt was no where to be seen. Silver flashed every once and a while, with practiced skill and perfection. Keir had been training it seemed again.
He usually woke up earlier then the rest so today was no exception for him. The quiet tall male relaxed from his stance to look up at the ceiling and bare his neck, his Adam's apple bobbing for a moment as he took in a breath of air out of habit. With his muscular body less tense now that he had his practice, he allowed all outside interference's to appear again. Has his hearing kicked in, he could hear slight movement coming from Ava's office.
Dark brown eyes narrowed for only a moment, before the male was leaving his practice spot and walking silently across old floors with powerful strides. Keir took a breath to see if something was wrong before he lifted his hand that did not still hold the twirling dagger and knocked upon the wood door.
When the door swung open, the tall male tilted his head in respect to the smaller female leader. His muscles flexed as he slipped the dagger back in its sheath on his hipe. The quiet male looked down at her for a moment before his thick naturally husky barretone voice slipped between his usually sown shut lips. "A spar to set your mind back on track?" He didn't ask for her well being, didn't pry into her own secrets just asked a simple question.
Keir knew his leader could destroy him at any moment, so the male's natural unsocial status was what kept him alive most of the time. That and he was always ready to spar, with his strong muscled body but still lean and moved like a panther on the hunt. He'd like to keep his head a little longer, so he stayed out of the way most days only speaking or getting involved when he was requested or training in the early evenings.

Ava rubbed her forehead, her face screwed up in mild confusion. "Spar? Now? That's what you woke me up for?" her voice unamused and her expression clearly unimpressed. It was Keir, of course. He was always the early bird 'round here and never seemed to be much of a social type. Not that the gang was exactly a social type group, but many of the members were more enthusiastic about their activities and such. She knew little about him and was faintly surprised that he had simply come to invite her to spar. Not that she'd decline of course.
Everyone knew Ava liked to spar, especially with members she hadn't sparred with before-like Keir. She liked knowing her fellow member's strengths in battle as well as knowing whom was the most talented. Keir didn't seem to be overly talented in any field, or at least from what she had seen before. It'd be interesting and entertaining to see what he could make of her. So Ava smiled, her eyes brightened in a smirkish fashion and said with a silky smooth voice, "I'd be happy to.". She turned away from the door with a pivot of her heel. Just nearly fully awake now at the prospect of a good fight. "Let me just grab a few things.".
She had her silver dagger on her, as always. She rarely left her room without it nowadays, it was an important piece of equipment, even if she did burn herself on it once and a while. She grabbed her silver-firing pistol, checking that it was still loaded, then she hopped into her boots and walked out of her office, closing the door behind her. "Right, off to the gymnasium I suppose? Unless you'd prefer to get roasted out in the sun instead?" she added with a light laugh.

Keir was glad for the change in her, although the emotion could not be seen in his eyes or his facial features. He had heard her while she had dreamed, the difference in breathing pattern, having a leader unbalanced from her usual demeanor was never a good thing. Now that Ava was in her original mind frame at his mention of having a spar with him, he nodded; the motion a slight tilt of his head at her approval of their spar and he shifted as he waited for her to don her gear.
The movement of his shift caused the muscles in his legs to twitch and his triceps to flex. Keir waited for her to close her door before answering her, "The gym." His reply straight to the point as all ways. He was no conversationalist. he knew that, but he could carry a polite conversation if needed. "For I have no more sunscreen," A slight set of humor came from him but whither it was for her benefit or his was still unknown.
When they set the pace for the familiar hall toward the gym, his steps slight and he slowed his pace so that he walked an equal pace as Ava. A muscle in his jaw twitched as their walk continued, glancing down at the smaller female, "The rain causes unrest does it not." He mentioned in a low voice, as if he didn't want to push the issue nor interfere.

Ava gave a slight chuckle at his joke, not that it was an overly funny joke-but the fact that he tried to pull it off within his own cold composure. So many of these males, specifically werewolves and vampires, they seemed to all think they needed to give off this fearless, unbreakable, emotionless composure. Ava on the other hand, squashed her emotions in an entirely different way. She put on a smile as she trudged through her life fed with the blood of the fallen and didn't complain a bit when she had to crawl over the weak to gain her own goals. She didn't pretend she didn't have emotions, she created new ones entirely. That was (what she believed) made her more of a difficult person to read. The cracks in her were harder to find and harder to break. The mask she had put over herself was much thicker than all these men.
Ava had to stifle a shiver at the mention of the rain, and she felt flashbacks of her dream flicker in the back of her mind. 'little bitch' a deep, distorted voice echoed in the back of her head. She tilted her head a little, towards Keir and mumbled, "Pardon?" her throat tightening a slight bit. Was it raining outside? She hadn't noticed. Then again, she hadn't noticed much outside of Keir and the dream that still gripped her mind.

Keir almost stopped in mid stride at her reply, his eyes flashing down to look at her before blinking slowly and looking a head of him once more. He took a breathe and lightly scented the air, the mold present in the building behind its wall nearly had him snorting but it was a smell he grew used to since having to sleep with the scent around them all the time.
He made a motion with his chin to the boarded up windows, "It's been raining since 8 am this morning; although its coming to an end now." He answered her as they came to the doors of the gym, he opened the door with a slight push of his hand. The stale air in the gym caused his nose to bristle but he stepped past the threshold and stood in the center of the gym.
Keir faced Ava and waited for her to join him in the center of the room, his stance was casual but tense and ready to spring into action like a cat on the prowl and ready to pounce on its prey. His body stiff and still, except for his hand, the dagger which he held when he was at her door was back in his hand, the tip of the dagger pointing toward the ground, but he held it like he should have had a sword in his hand and not the dagger that was there now.
His arm moved to put the short dagger blade in front of his face, exactly like it was a sword in a polite bow to his opponent.

Ava blinked and focused on the sounds outside, hearing the pitter patter of water falling from the sky onto the dirty pavement. She gave a slight shrug and turned from him and jogged over to the gymnasium, "Right, I knew that. I was just wondering how you had nothing better to talk about then the weather." she said stingingly as she entered the gymnasium.
They moved to the centre of the room and she watched as he gave a bow. She rolled her eyes, Ava wasn't into all that formal stuff. A fight was a fight was. a. fight. In a flash she grabbed her pistol and aimed at Keir, making a firing motion at him-but not actually firing. "Seriously-I like that you're showing me 'respect' and all, but in a real fight-bowing is like giving in. Show me how you'd fight a real opponent, please?" she said coldly. obviously not really in her 'happy' demeanor as she had been before. Perhaps she felt like he had treated her like an idiot a little about the fact it had been raining. In any case, she was in her sparring mode and ready to take his attacks.

Keir tilted his head, suddenly a cruel smirk tilted his thin lips up as he stood. Muscles bunching in his legs was the only warning she received before his larger body was suddenly in front of her, his muscular frame bending like a snake as he weaved around her, his dagger snapping out every now and then.
Keir didn't wait to see if any of the blows had landed or had been blocked, he only kept the pace hard, his muscle propelling him forward with no mercy, his grip on his blade un movable even as he moved with such ease, almost like rain along the surface of a tin roof. But the force of a typhon in every swing and strike he made with both his body and blade. His jaw set, his free arm sometimes blocking and perrring blows. Every once and a while one of her own attacks would hit his body but not even a twitch registered on his face.
In one second his large body suddenly dropped to the ground, his hand holding him up as he spun his right leg out at Ava's ankles. His technique wasn't that good but that was what made him difficult to track, since he changed his moves so often to cover up mistakes that he could have made.

Ava had to admit, she was rather surprised at his outburst-though it wasn't anything should couldn't handle. She dodged his quick, violet attacked with simple back steps. She didn't bother to try and get him back at all-she needed to focus on blocking his own attacks. Then, in a split second, he was down on the ground. She jumped back, catching herself with one hand pushed herself back towards him and tackled the large vampire, attempting to wrap her hands around his torso or neck. Ava, unlike Keir here, wasn't into jab-and-run techniques. For her, it was something big or nothing at all. Jab-and-run didn't kill, but pinning them down and biting their neck did.

Keir didn't even blink, in the change, blinking usually meant you loose your life. So he took it in stride, his back colliding with the floor with a thud, she had him pinned for only a moment, before his hands gripped her arms and his feet gathered under her, his knee coming up between them and his foot rolling them backwords, aiming to toss her off him.
As soon as his role ended he was on his feet and striking out with his dagger in a quick sweep of motion. The blade a silver blur in the light, his eyes sharp and calculating, his lips no longer in a cruel smirk but a smirk none the less. His body was more flowing from movement to movement as he pushed a head with foot work of sword play and swings of his blade, his other hand always moving to block a hit from her or twitching as he received a blow to his own body.

Ava wasn't surprised at all when he pushed her off. She stopped herself and stood easily again to find he was only attacking her again. Perhaps his moves were not nearly as creative as she'd like, but it got the job done, considering he gave her a great big, rather stinging gash on her stomach, slicing through her pretty white shirt and leaving dark red blood stains. Her cut began to heal easily, but she frowned while dodging his attacks, "Hey! I liked this shirt." she said in protest, though not really caring. She had more than enough of a selection to keep her happy when it came to t-shirts.
This time, she kept up with his attacks evenly with her own silver blade, getting him once or twice as well. Instead of trying to pin him, she decided to get rid of that silly blade of his, so in one movement at first resembling a jab, she grabbed his knife hand with the hand she had with her own dagger and pressed the blade against his wrist, cutting into it and trying to get him to simply drop it.

Keir watched her as the moved in the familiar dance of combat, a quiet smirk and a raise of his brow before he let out a grunt as her blade nicked the inside of his wrist, his fingers clenched and un clenched, making the blade fall from his hand, but even still as his wound healed, his once injured hand, ripped Ava own blade from her hand, disarming her in a swift motion just as she had done him.
Keir ducked low made an upper cut motion, only to change course and send his right leg out in a 360 kick, aiming from her knee across her body toward her head, his arms tucked into his body to protect his chest and neck.

Ava easily dodged his uppercut motion, but did not expect the kick and was tripped. She fell backwards a few meters away from him, sliding on her backside as she stopped herself by putting out her hands. She gave a smile, "Not bad, not bad." she said before pushing herself up with all the speed of a vampire, grabbing her pistol and running right around Keir, in front and then jumped into his back, wrapping her legs around his torso and her left arm around his neck, with her right arm holding the cold gun barrel on the side of his neck, "But, I'm afraid I brought a gun to a fistfight." she said silky into his ear.

Keir was so focused, but it seems he was not fast enough and now he was caught with a gun to his neck. He actually let out a chuckle, "Aye, that you have." His slip of tongue to his old Irish roots and his Irish accent appearing from before he became vampire coming from him, his adam's apple bobbing with his words and his chuckle. There was some of his blood on his white wife beater as he ran his once injured hand along it.
Keir glanced back at Ava, his chest rumbling with his laugh, before he suddenly grabbed her arm holding the gun and spun them towards the wall, while he jumped backwards, with his hands still holding onto her, his ears catching the sound of them colliding with the wall. He moved his head slightly so if the gun accidently went off, its bullet wouldn't wound him. While preoccupied with the wall he used his male weight to his advantage and pulled free from her hold. Using his speed to create a good distance between them.
Suddenly Keir went from watching her to hissing toward the door way behind him, his eyes narrowed and were slowly bleeding red. It took a stride, to pick up his dagger again, and then another to stand in the door way, his large frame taking up most of it, his fangs picking over his lip as a new scent came across him, one that was a stranger to the Nightwalkers original scents. His muscles tense in warning, his fingers clenching onto his dagger, even as he had placed it in his sheath.
Keir turned his head down the hall now hearing the foot steps, he knew what he was doing was foolish on his part, but his brotherly affections for Ava made him a little protective although he knew she didn't exactly want that.

Ava dropped her gun and stumbled backwards a little, though even her stumble was decently graceful and she quickly regained her balance. She picked up her pistol and her blade, putting her gun in her holder on her belt but kept her dagger on hand. She began to approach Keir with a smirk before he simply went into a hostile mode. Not at her, but at something from outside, she took a few steps towards the door, breathing in scent before her eyes widened.
Yes. She knew that scent. She had smelled it, only recently, in her dream. "Shit..." she whispered under her breath. What a coincidence that he came the same night. Or not so much of a coincidence to the fact that the nightmare had come because of his reappearance in her life. She clenched her throat saying with warning, "Keir, get away from the door." she took a few steps backwards with an uncertain gaze at the door where she knew her would appear any minute.
