So, I'm curious, what has been your favourite character to write ever? On this site, on others, or in your other personal stories. Describe?
My favourite character ever is Ava, or April... As she has been known before. She is my most misunderstood character. People see her as a typical, one-sided evil bitch character-but she is so much more than that to me. She is such a damaged person who has gone through much in her life and has trained herself to see the world in a pessimistic way. She sees it not as a place to enjoy and grow and learn, but a cut-throat, kill or be killed-hurt or be hurt way. It's sad, but interesting to roleplay. She's very analytical and talented at things I'd be terrible at. She doesn't expect things from others and admires independence. She's not the type of girl to flaunt her looks to get what she wants, or flirt with the 'big boys' to get attention or protection. She gets those things by being her. Sure, she kills, tortures and doesn't give a flying frick if she has to lie and betray to get what she wants-but she does it all on her own. I admire that about her.
So, yeah

Ava is really interesting. She's one of those characters who I can't tell if I love her or hate her. I have a few which are all on equal standing with each other: David ChandlerI really love this character. He is new and just for this one roleplay but I feel like there is so much depth to him. He is a bit of a puzzle which I am slowly trying to solve as I write him. The way he thinks, the way he acts, the way he speaks, he is just brilliant! Muriel BlackMuriel is a character I made for the roleplay Frythren. She is one of the only villain-type characters I have ever been able to enjoy writing. She dancing about people's emotions and lives, never caring what the long-term effects might be. Though she is greedy and somewhat cold-hearted, there is that part of her which she herself denies, that part which feels the bitter loneliness of her selfish and somewhat sadistic lifestyle. That is the part of her which I hope someday to unveil but for now even she herself tucks it away under a mask of self-deception which is covered again by the image she puts forth for other people. In many ways the real her is lost in collection of personalities used for facade. FoxgloveThe first roleplay I ever joined was Mizuclan, a Warriors-based roleplay which had a guild on Neopets as its home. We later moved to a proboards forum. In any case it was five years running before it died and I had many characters over the course of that time. My longest living with Rabbitfoot who I loved because she was such a sweetie, but my favorite to write was Foxglove. Foxglove was cunning, capable of tricking anyone into believing practically anything she told them, but she had a good sense of right and wrong. She abandoned Mizuclan after discovering that she was the niece of the leader of their enemy Blacky's Gang. She joined the gang and ended up being part of a rebellion against the new leader who had murdered their previous leader and founder Blacky. She had a hard time not throwing a fuss when she was patronized and sometimes her allegiances were hazy around the lines, but the time came she knew who and what she was standing for and nearly died saving her friends.

The only characters I've ever done on more than a couple of sites are Yuliya and Amri, and it's impossible to choose between them. So...
Yuliya
Yuliya started off as my character who was me. She was hyper and crazy and loved horses. As I started getting into more literate rpgs, she changed into a cynical warrior woman who hated everybody and stayed by herself. She was also impossible to find a play-by for, and it was when I found Allison Harvard that her personality changed again, and this was also when I started high school, and at high school I became very shy and reserved and socially anxious so Yuliya evolved to fit this. She has all my problems intensified which helps me get through it and it's also interesting to play, and she's hard to play since if left to her own devices she wouldn't talk with anyone.
Amri
One day, I realized there were three things I was bad at writing: Guys, violence, and flirtiness, so I created Amri to get better at those things. He started off basically being Bankotsu from Inuyasha (Bankotsu is still a heavy influence) and he's really just fun to play, but he's also a very complicated character. I generally have him and Yuliya representing yin and yang, so even though he's a jerk and an ass he has good qualities, like his devotion to his sister and his refusal to beat up weak people unless they really annoy him. (I also think it's really funny because even though I paint him as the kind of guy any girl would be attracted to, seeing as he was sort of my type when I created him, I find the exact opposite attractive now which makes him more interesting to play.)

Interesting. Wow. I feel like such a powerless writer now. XD I could never force a character to be a cirtain way or have a character reflect myself because each of them is independant and their own personality. I seperate myself from the story and just sort of let it happen. It's hard to describe.

I'm the same way, sorta. My characters are like voices in my head. I have a harder time creating them, because it's kinda like adopting a baby. I still need to learn about their full traits, their likes, dislikes, their preferences... I CAN make them do what I want, but the writing is never as good and... I feel like I'm betraying my character. I can plan ahead what they will do because I know them so well, I can interpret their actions beforehand. Like... I know if someone is rude to Ava, I know she's going to get ticked off real quickly, as a general example.
