Carmindy liked the lake. She didn't get out here often because she liked the security of the Library. She knew that the surrounding forest was dangerous, but right now, she didn't care. She liked the quiet, the peace that the lake brought her. The Library was anything but quiet, buzzing with words and thoughts and plans and people. Here, she could find the solitude she enjoyed, going for a short swim or simply just contemplating the surrounding area for a few moments. She'd chosen the former today. Now, she sat in her extra set of clothes, hair wet, feet dangling in the cool, clear water of the lake. She wasn't out in the open, she knew better than that now. She was concealed in a small clump of brush, her back to a large, sun-warmed rock. She pulled her paints from her bag along with her precious pad of painting paper. She was cautious with it's use because she wasn't sure where she'd get another here. For now, though, she wouldn't think about that. She could simply be free, alone with her own thoughts. She'd keep her mind open, of course, just in case somebody was getting close, but it wasn't half as much work as keeping up a barrier. She dipped her brush in the lake water and then in the paints. Smiling, she began to flesh out the landscape she'd begun painting a few minutes before.

Heather padded through the forest idly, her mind abuzz and her senses humming as she tasted the air to smell flowers, mice and even a hive full of honey. Yum, honey. She was in her cat form, walking with her body full of white fur that still had hints of kitten fluff that puffed out with feather-like qualities. She climbed up the tree, slightly awkwardly. She pulled herself up with her claws, then scrambled with her hind legs to push her up further. It wasn't as difficult as the first time she'd attempted all those years ago back in the forest by her home. She reached the first branch fairly quickly, and looked up to see the hive buzzing above her head. The honey's smell soothed her and she felt a little woozy with both exhaustion from the climb and the sheer height. She leaned closer to the smell and a bee flew too close to her nose and she jumped, sliding off the tree branch. She landed on her feet, and sneezed.
Now what? She could smell a familiar scent, Carmindy! She purred and followed it towards the lake. She saw her and climbed a tree as silently as possible that was close beside her. She sat on the branch over her and focused her thoughts. "Heyy... hey... remember... me... me?" her thoughts echoed as she concentrated on the single phrase.

Carmindy nearly jumped out of her skin. After having silence in her mind for so long, it was strange to hear someone else's thoughts other than her own. She recognized them though, that distinct pattern of thinking, that voice... She glanced up and her face lit up with recognition as she saw the white cat perched on the branches. "Heather! Hi!" She whispered. Nobody else was nearby, but she didn't want to risk her voice echoing throughout the forest and letting every supernatural in the surrounding area know she was excited to see her friend. She set her painting down, grateful that her paint dried quickly and gently lifted the cat down from the branch, hoping that Heather wouldn't mind. She didn't want to crane her neck all the time to talk to her. "I've joined the rebellion since I last saw you. I hope you're not enemies with them or anything..." she told her, "What have you been up to?" She sat back down and crossed her legs, picking up her painting again and keeping her mind open so she could hear Heather.

Heather shifted on the branch; turning into her human form as to make their conversation easier on both of them. Her hair was long and slightly wavy over her shoulders and her dress was new and white, no longer torn and faded like the last time she had seen Carmindy. Also, she had a pretty cat-shaped stone on a thin string hanging from her neck. Instead of hungry and desperate, she now appeared healthy and happy, and she was glad Carmindy was also in a better situation. She sat with her legs wrapped together over the branches and she smiled from the treetop.
Heather held back a frown of disappointment when she learned that she was with the rebellion, and not free to join the Earth Circle with her. Back there, she had a few friends, but she still really wanted to spend more time with Carmindy, someone whom she hadn't known before she joined. "No, we're not enemies; or at least... I don't think we are. I actually joined the Earth Circle, here in the forest." she shrugged, "We're friendly to most so I wouldn't believe we are enemies."
