She can't really see what she's wearing so she doesn't particularly care that much. Usually something baggy and dark-colored, or anything that's comfortable to wear doing whatever.Appearance:
She doesn't look like much. Genni has always been small for her age, even since she was little. Her hair color runs in the family as that dark black-brown color, and her skin is often pale in contrast to her otherwise dark features. It is even more contrasted by the strange markings covering her from head to toe.History:
Genevieve has always been the outcast. Why they were convicted:
The small town she lived in only ever had around 3000 people in it, so it was one of those towns where everyone knew everyone, but the Jessel's were never very social, and all of the people knew there was something. . . different about their daughter. It might have been the strange markings, the fact that she was blind, or the way she hardly ever spoke to anyone.
The little girl had been born a bit early and had to be taken in by the hospital an hour away to be cared for. The Jessel's had been worried, but this often happened with the girls on her father's side.
However, Genevieve was the first girl born to the Jessel family line in two generations. Their family lineage had always favored the females more than the males for some reason.
She was also one of the first blind children born to the town in years. Genevieve was often the center of attention because of it, but it wasn't the blindness that caused the bullying, caused the other kids to hate her so. They had always known that there was something different about her. Things happened when she was around: tables accidentally got knocked over when she got scared, kids fell down when they made her cry. All of this just made the bullying worse.
Though she always felt lonely because of this bullying, Genevieve was never without friends. She had always had what she thought was her imaginary friend to talk to. Really it was a small, harmless demon that would always whisper in her ear, be her sight for her. He wasn't always around, but as Genni got older, she got a better handle at calling Lutz to her side, and realized that he was more than just an imaginary friend. She didn't dare tell her parents about him, but they always knew. They could always hear her talking to him, hear his indecipherable whispers. They were never worried--they hadn't ever heard of a Crocotta getting hurt by one of their own demons.
Her family had decided to wait to tell her about her family lineage when she turned 15, but that would be too late. They weren't aware of her situation at school: Genni never talked about it. She kept it bottled up, letting the kids do what they like, hoping they would grow out of it.
But one prank went too far. One of the jocks in her class at high school convinced some of his buddies to gang up on her. They tormented her, demanded to know why she was so different. Despite her lack of eyesight, they were relentless. They pushed her around and called her names, then left her there by herself in the dark to find her way back home.
All of those pent-up feelings were never good for her. The next day when she went to school, she had had too much. The boys were bad, but the other girls were the worst. It was them that placed the final straw that broke the camel's back.
One of the more vicious homecoming queens got her during lunch. A well-placed tray of the school's mac and cheese landed on Genni's head that day. The laughing seemed louder on this day, the taunts penetrated her deeper.
All of the emotions she had been hiding came crashing down like an avalanche. She uttered but a few choice words, and the laughs turned to screaming, the taunts became cries for help as they were chased down and brutalized by a particularly violent demon she had summoned. Genevieve could only imagine its talon-like claws catching up her tormentors and tossing them around like rag dolls, its large, vicious black eyes drilling fear right into their hearts before it squished them under its massive frame. . . .
Genevieve was found sitting at one of the lunchroom tables, surrounded by her dead peers. Some parts of them had seemed to be eaten (mostly by a blood-raged Genevieve). There had been survivors, only about seven dead, the rest wounded and hospitalized. She hadn't had the control to keep the demon in her world for very long, but long enough to make an impression.Years in the Camp: 1 year
She stopped speaking for a few weeks, and merely brooded on her actions. No, she didn't regret what she had done. They had tormented and hated her all of her life, they had gotten what they had deserved. No one would ever bother her again.
Her parents were contacted later by officials from Camp Sangvene. Genevieve had been placed under house arrest until the Supernatural Squad could arrive and deal with her. They begged and pleaded for them not to take her, but they were adamant.
Though her parents promised it wouldn't ever happen again, Genevieve got up and quietly went with them. If what they had been saying was true, then this place was full of people like her, who had special abilities and weren't quite human.
Maybe there people would understand her.
Life in the Camp:
Genevieve has slowly started to crawl out of her shell. After a few weeks of living in the camp, she started speaking again. These people didn't torment her for being different. Some of them still didn't talk to her, but there were a few friendly faces. She found more friends in the gang the Alliance, who ended up taking her under their wing. Genni was drawn initially by the safety in their numbers, but grew to realize how warm and welcoming they were. Plus, they seemed to live a lot better than most of the inmates. . . .Personality:
Genevieve is at first kind of withdrawn. She doesn't trust people very easily, but warms up quickly when any little bit of kindness is shown to her in any form. She's generally a gentle girl, just looking to be accepted and liked for who she is. Her socially awkward mind usually makes that quite difficult--it could be because she's constantly at war with her true nature as a Crocotta.Likes:
However, she is very quick to drop relationships. Because she's not used to talking to people and being around them, she misconstrues what people say to her and can become very insulted. Once you've insulted her, it's quite hard to get her to forgive you and relinquish the grudge keeping you from her. Her walls start out as a locked gate, but can quickly become a brick wall that is impassable. Genevieve doesn't hand out second chances willy-nilly.
It seems like Genevieve rarely ever smiles when she's alone. That all changes when she's in the presence of people she thinks of as her best friends. It's then that the girl becomes a normal teenager--giggling, gossiping, and having an actually pretty decent time. The second a stranger shows up, though, that gate closes and you have to convince her to open it again.
Generally speaking, Genevieve is very non-confrontational. She tries to avoid conflict when she can, but if you corner her she's like a wild animal and will claw out your eyes if you get too close (or have one of her demons do it). Because she's constantly trying not to be a Crocotta, her attacks can be more vicious than normal.
