-They have the ability to manipulate and strengthen their element. For examples, earth elementals can speed the growth of plants, and fire elementals can create fire in thin air.

-The direct opposite element. For example, stone walls and carpeting will weaken earth Elementals, water will weaken fire, the underground will weaken air elementals, the light will weaken shadow elementals and so on.

-Being in a strong presence of their element.

-An elemental will have the element that reflects their personality. Earth elements will be down to earth, electricity elements hyper and excited, fire elements are often hot-headed and shadow elementals dark and sadistic.

Manifestation:

-An elemental will not usually develop a their powers until they are about five, but in drastic situations, elementals have been known to change elements with their personalities in their early teens.
