Carmindy’s style consists of cardigans, jeans, T-shirts, and converse, and not much else. She doesn’t care about her clothes and really wears whatever she fancies or is comfortable and/or practical. Her clothes never fit well due to her size, so they’re usually at least a size too big, sometimes going up to three sizes too large.Appearance:
When one first sees Carmindy walking down the street, she’s not drop-dead gorgeous or particularly well-dressed. Actually, the first thing one might think of is “mouse”. She’s rather diminutive and unimpressive. She has wavy honey-brown hair that is a couple of inches past her shoulders, wide brown eyes, and soft features. Her nose is fairly small, just like the rest of her. Her skin has a pale complexion with a hint of rose, and she’s never been able to tan very well. On her nose, she has a light sprinkling of freckles that she’s constantly trying to get rid of, and ears that are, like her clothes, about two sizes too big and stick out from her head.History:
Carmindy grew up in Falkirk, Scotland, on the edge of the River Carron. Her father is something of a freelance detective, always making strange snap deductions, a bit of a regular Sherlock Holmes in the area. Her mum works as a lawyer. Half of her grandparents still exist, and those are on her Dad’s side. As a child, she was a shy and introverted, preferring to paint and write in her journal rather than go out with her friends. She was that kid who burst into tears when she shook a stranger’s hand, or hid behind her dad’s legs even after she’d begged him to bring her to work with him. Now, she was content to be by herself. Her Mum always did say she was like her grandmother on her own side, and it was not a compliment. This grandmother, or Elle, as they called her, had been diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of seventeen, put on several drugs for it that never really worked well, and finally had committed suicide at the age of forty-five. Carmindy’s Mum feared that she would turn out just like Elle. She usually pushed Carmindy to go out with her friends, to stop being so shy, and to do bold and exciting things, fearing that her daughter might slip into depression and possibly some sort of mental disorder if her constant quietness persisted. It was true though, Carmindy did hear voices, voices she aptly (or ignorantly) named Ego and Self…Why they were convicted:
At the age of twelve, Carmindy began hearing voices. She kept this from her parents because she knew her mother was paranoid about her being schizophrenic. Usually, she heard just two aside from her own, but sometimes, there were a few more. She never really thought it was anything more than a light case of schizophrenia, something she could handle. But then came the headaches, the nausea, and the general overcrowding of thoughts into one tired brain. To gain some sort of release, she wrote even more in her journals, talking back to Ego and Self, trying to make them shut up, but they never did. She’ll never forget the day when she walked into her room and found her mum leafing through that precious journal, looking up at her with wide eyes. Carmindy had tried to explain, tried to make it sound normal and okay, but the secret was out. Her parents had taken her to the doctor and various psychologists and shrinks, all putting her on medications. Medication after medication, it only got worse, and her parents were hysteric. Once, during a meeting with her shrink, she said something she’d never meant to, and wished that it hadn’t gotten out. In a flash, the memory was suddenly zapped out of her shrink’s mind. Carmindy didn’t want to say anything… but… she knew, at that moment…she knew. Her life would never be the same. It didn’t take long for that to get out, not when more events of its kind happened. Needless to say her parents didn’t know what to do with her, her father was especially on edge. One night, not a week ago, he woke Carmindy and told her to pack her things. With that, he took her to the nearest HEROS Initiative HQ, and told the agents all about how she couldn’t control her power, and nobody around her knew if she’d erased a memory or not. With that, he’d given her a permanent label, one that would stick with her the rest of the life. She was a menace to society, and the agents were to take her to Sangvene.Years in the Camp: New Inmate/Guard
Life in the Camp:
N/A (New inmate)Personality:
When she has friends, Carmindy is a quiet, patient, and thoughtful friend. She's fiercely loyal, even if she's not all that brave. She's not really a doormat, but she doesn't want to be at all pushy in any way, shape, or form, so she usually doesn't stand up for herself well. Carmindy is going through a huge transition in her life right now. She's going through a lot, she's hurt and she's scared. She doesn't know who to trust or how to control her power. She's in flux, trying to decide what to do. Because of this, she's quiet, reserved, shy. She doesn't know where to go, and she's usually pretty scattered-brained and forgets things easily. It's not easy to keep yourself together when you're suddenly thrust into a place where there's a million voices screaming into your head. Before she learns to control herself, she often breaks down and has panic attacks from the sheer amount of voices that are assaulting her. She just wants to go home.Likes:
