let's leave no words unspokenAND SAVE REGRETS FOR THE BROKEN. Will you even look back when you think of me? All I want is a place to call my own && mend the hearts of everyone who feels alone
It was just another sunny day, Where nothing seemed to be going on. Lately the gangs had been silent planning something is what he figured. As long as it did not effect him though it did not concern him. What ever they did in the camp was of no concern of his. He had often been asked to help other gangs and always turned them down, Even though they where peaceful most others knew it would not be wise to try and ever attack do to the heavy walls and the amount of power the small camp held withing its walls. It was a fortress but those inside where more then able to fend for themselves. And so when he turned each gang down normally that was the end. He had only been in a few fights while in this place and never seemed to be the one harmed which gave him some reputation as well. And today was one day where he was glad not to have to be doing much of anything. It was perfect weather no rain or clouds in the sky and only a mild heat index. Which was the reason he was planning on going out for a little while. As he was leaving the gates of the camp two other members stopped and asked if he would like escorts with a smile he shook his head and continued on out the gate, Behind him it sealed back up with the massive stones. He was the only one able to leave the gate and if others wished they needed to ask first, It was not because he wished to treat them as prisoners or children but knew it was the best way to keep every one safe. Though he did not doubt some found other ways of leaving. He walked along a barely beating path his eyes not overly focused on anything and his attention off in some other world. He often spaced out, since this place had left him with not much to do besides sit back and work deals or create things. It was all fun and all but was getting boring now. After having walked for a hour or so he heads over to a dead log and shuts his eyes for a moment letting out a sigh he sits down as doing so the log begins to become encoated with stone and vines until it formed a small chair. Relaxing back in it he pulls out the strange wind instrument and places it to his lips. He always played when he wanted to relax and it often allowed others to do so as well around him. The song being played was one he had heard as a child and was always in his head. Though he was unsure of who wrote it or even what it was. But the melody caused from it was extremely peaceful sounding.
You know to keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

Yuliya was a wanderer, she had always been so. Though when it was said in her mother's words, it was not meant so kindly. She wandered away from her parents and away from the house and it was a problem until they realized they didn't care as long as she didn't run into a stranger and act all weird around them. They couldn't have Yuliya ruin the name of Dukhkin'. In fact, her wandering almost became a good thing because it meant she wasn't in the house which meant they could have company, it was far easier than locking her in a back room and just hoping she wouldn't make any noise. And so wandering became something she did, for hours and hours, she would just go where she wanted to.
Of course it drove her brother crazy. He wanted her to stay in the camp. He wanted her to stay there all day. He had even surprised her with a box of old encyclopedias for her to read so that she would be more inclined to stay in the camp and read. And she was very thankful for those encyclopedias, but she was paranoid that she would read them too fast and so she limited herself to reading them at night since she had had insomnia all her life and she liked to distract herself at night so she wouldn't think about all the dangers that could befall her. So far Amri still didn't know about how often she wandered away from camp, since he had the exact opposite problem as her and slept about fourteen hours a day, which was quite helpful towards her wandering ways.
This mid-morning she had decided to follow a stream. She had always loved playing in streams, making little dams and canals and flipping over rocks and saying hello to all the crawdads and fish. She noticed aquatic animals were among the most paranoid of creatures, so she tried to limit how much she interacted with them. But she walked with light feet in the stream, liking to keep her feet cool and a warm day since her small body over-heated quite easily and she didn't want to faint in a stream, she'd had enough problems with fainting all her life.
That was when she heard a faint whistling sound on the wind and she cocked her head like a small woodland creature and followed the noise of it. Ember, who had been walking beside her, and Coconut, who had been riding on her shoulder, also seemed drawn. Yuliya had often noticed the way animals were attracted to music, and it made her wish she had brought her banjo to this place, but it also made her realize it had the same affect on her, as if being an animal elemental gave her the same instincts as animals. The melodies of music calmed down her usually nervous senses and so she walked with a small percentage of the fear she usually carried until she came to the place where the music was coming from, a boy sitting in a chair made of vines. Her big eyes widened as she froze slightly, but she wanted to hear more. Ember was more brave and walked right up to the boy though he was unusually non-aggressive. The three of them just listened.

Ian always seemed to be the type who wished nothing more then to be relaxed and happy, As well as make others happy around him.It was just the idea he saw no reason for the fighting and chaos that most enjoyed, To him it was pointless and had no meaning of reasoning. Though he faught when needed most of the time is was to simply keep his gang safe and out of the sight of others. He would do what was needed even if that some time meant he had to do things he would normally not, such as destroying his enemies. As he rested in the chair his eyes shifted down to the little fox that had run up to him. Offering a small smile in its direction he continued playing letting the notes flow smoothly through the gentle breeze. He looked around for a quick second taking in the small group who had arrived. It was not often he saw new people unless they where joining him. Which normally was every few days. Taking the piccalo from his lips he sets it down across his lap and looks over towards the girl and little squirl who seemed rather comfortable resting on her shoulder. It was different to see one have such a connection with animals, and it actually intrigued him. Placing the instrument on the edge of the chair he stands up and offers a smile. Before walking over towards her.
"Hello, I am Ian sorry if I woke you or anything.. I just needed to get out and have some silence for a little while, Not to often I am able to do so in this place."
He spoke softly unsure of her yet, She seemed timid, and afraid. He guessed she had been picked on alot when she was younger. It was not because she was ugly though but the way she acted was strange. He knew easily why though. She was an animal elemental which proved to make her nature slightly like their own. It was not something common to see though. She was the first he had seen in this place before, As well as he knew about her camp and brother. Though he saw no reason to bring that up. After all they where just in their own place not hurting any one by doing so. He stood a few feet away, not to scare her and waited with a smile and gentle look as he awaited for a response.
You know to keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

When the music stopped Yuliya shook her head around slightly, as if she was only now realizing what was going on. There was a person. People didn't like her. People were mean to her or tried to kill her. People were scary unless Amri was with her. She always forgot that behind every instrument was a person. She took a step backwards, planning to slowly turn around and run away, when Coconut leaped off her shoulder and ran up to the boy. Yuliya could have cried. She couldn't leave without Coconut, but the squirrel has this need to go say hi to every person she met. From what Yuliya had heard of her, Coconut had previously lived in a park on Georgia where she was regularly fed by everyone and had never found the need to be scared of people. But this wasn't a park in Georgia. Some people in this place were desperate enough to try to catch and cook a squirrel like her.
He spoke very quietly though her mind couldn't quite wrap itself around his words, something about getting away, which she supposed she could understand. She always wanted to get away from home back in Ukraine, away from the manor with its dark colors and thick rugs and servants that always gave her odd glances. Amri told her everyone would try to trick her...but was he? She couldn't tell. Yellow thoughts came into her mind. Her eyes flickered up at him for a second and then down as she took a step forward and knelt down to stroke Ember's fur. Yes, yellow, he was definitely yellow. Yellow was probably the least scary of colors. Not like orange or purple, not like her brother's blue or her father's red. It was light and yielding. Was she yellow? She'd never been able to tell her own color, she only knew the colors of others.
Her eyes went to the instrument on his leg. She hadn't seen one of those before. Her mother played piano, her father violin, her brother guitar, and she banjo. She didn't know wind instruments as well, though she had tried her hand at harmonica once. She loved the sound of it though, it sounded like the birds that would chirp in the sunflower fields back home early in the morning when she would walk her mare through the flowers and dust petals into her hair. How she missed all the sunflowers.
“What...what instrument is that?” she asked, her voice wavering.

He kept his distance as he was able to tell she was not overly fond of others. But the little squirel was what made his smile all the bigger. Kneeling down he slowly and gently patted the small creatures head and with his free hand Took out some nuts he had brought along for a snack if he had gotten hungry while out adventuring. And placed them down infront of her. Standing back up he looks back towards the awkward girl. He could tell she was not overly fond of others and seemed a bit on the timid and nervous side. Which he fully understood in this place he if not for his abilities would be petrified of others. But since he could protect himself and had his entire gang to keep safe as well fear was the one thing he could not have. When she asked the question of what the instrument he had been playing was he walked back over and picked it up in his left hand and walked back towards her still keeping a slight distance. And held it out in his palm for her to see or take if she wanted to.
"Its a piccalo like a flute almost. Its just longer and not as complicated, Would you like to try?"
Even though the flute was something of value to him he saw no harm in letting her if she wanted to. It was not like she could run from him or even seemed like the type to try. Yawning a little he turns and looks around for a moment, His eyes focusing on something moving around in a tree a ways back. It was a paragine falcon, He loved birds and always wanted one but never was able to have the heart to get one and have to keep it caged. To him that was no life for any one or any animal. Just like people they deserved freedom as well. He kept the instrument held out for her though his attention was else where now watching the bird perch in the distance.
You know to keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

Yuliya was wholly surprised when he laid the nuts down in front of Coconut, who greedily grabbed a few up into her little paws to nibble on them. People didn't give food to animals around here, they had enough to worry about feeding themselves. Feeding animals was one of the reasons Yuliya was quite a bit underweight but that was also because she lied to her brother about how much she ate so he would eat more, since she knew he became incredibly grumpy when he was hungry. It made her curious as to who he was and it eased her fear slightly.
He offered to let her play the so-called piccolo and a rush of excitement swelled through her. She really did love playing music. When they sat together in the lounge and played their instruments was the only time her family. Any tune brought back such good memories. So she reached her hand out and delicately took the instrument in her hands, turning it over to get a good look at it before putting it to her lips and blowing a single note, not really knowing what to do with her hands. It still sounded nice though.
She noticed he was looking out somewhere and she followed his eyes to the bird, and she gasped slightly. Seeing the peregrine falcon brought back memories of Streak, the peregrine falcon she had back home. The day she had found him was a bad day. She had been walking through the woods when she found two dead peregrine falcons, a mating pair, being eaten by raccoons. She couldn't be too angry because raccoons needed to eat too. But the raccoons had also tipped over the nest high in the tree, and all but one of the eggs had been smashed. Of course Yuliya had taken the egg back home and cared for the bird when he hatched...she wondered how Streak was doing without her...slight tears came to her eyes as she thought of him.
“Hello there,” she said to the bird. She saw the usual look of confusion. Animals were often very surprised that she could talk to them and looked all around them before realizing it had come from her. With a smile she went through her bag and pulled out a small dead mouse that Ember had caught that morning and tossed it to the peregrine falcon who gulped it down eagerly. She'd almost forgotten the boy was there.
“Did you have peregrine falcons where you were from too?” she found herself asking.

Who knew what his interest was with birds, But he always admired them, Maybe it was their freedom and way of life, And the falcon was so free and powerful nothing in the sky could stop it.Which reminded him of how he wish life could be. His admiration for it was amazing which was why he had lost all senses while he peered off into its direction blocking everything else out around him. It was just something unique and a bird he had only read about and seen pictures of, Which seeing one in life was another factor to his loss of concentration. But it all came back to him when he herd her speak to him. Snapping out from the trance he turned and looked towards her shaking his head a bit, before turning to look back at the bird. But this time he was not focused on it alone. So he was able to figure out what she had asked and everything.
"Their are birds where im from but none like this. Iv read and seen pictures of them but that was it. Out of any animals It is the one I love the most, Its powerful and free unlike so many humans and so one. It has free reine of the sky. As where all of us are stuck down here only able to admire their unique skills. "
The tone of his voice was proof enough of his admiration and respect for the creature. Turning back towards her he offered a soft smile and kneeled back down next to the small squirrel and placed a few more nuts down for her to munch one. Looking back towards the stranger he could tell by her stature she did not eat enough, and that simply was something he did not like. Taking out a bag from his pocket he tosses it over towards her. Inside was some berries and nuts that he got from camp in the grove. He saw no reason why he needed it since he was not even close to hungry yet.
You know to keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

She listened closely as he talked about birds, a little happiness coming to her. She liked the way he talked about birds, she really liked it when anyone talked about animals fondly. It gave her a sense of hope, that maybe one day in the future animals would be treated better if there were more people like this. Maybe people would stop eating meat and stop poaching and stop abusing...that was her dream. Learn about animals, write about animals, and stop everything bad that happened to animals, but she couldn't do that now. She was here, and anyways, she was broken, she couldn't do anything right.
“T-They are native to Ukraine...they fly over the sunflowers everyday looking for field mice.”
Most people didn't know about the connection Ukraine had to sunflowers. They didn't know it was the national flower and that Ukraine's largest export was sunflower seeds or that the Ukrainian flag was supposed to be a blue sky over a field of sunflowers. Yuliya wished she had brought one of the flags with her just so she could hold a piece of the sunflowers she and her country loved so much...but her thinking was interrupted when he tossed a bag at her. Surprised and nervous, she opened it to see an assortment of berries and nuts...for her...to eat... Putting it back down she looked up at him with her wide eyes again. “W-Why?” she managed to choke out. She didn't get why a person would be nice to her, they weren't supposed to do that. People were supposed to steal food from her, not give it to her. They were supposed to jeer at her and tell her she was a freak because sometimes she messed up and thought her voice and voiced her thoughts. This wasn't how it was supposed to go.

He could not help but chuckle a little at the way she had acted about the food, It was funny to see some one feel so strange to be offered something. Though in this place it did have to seem strange for complete stranger to hand over food with out a thought. But in his case he had more then enough to share, After all that was what the gardens where for right? If he could not at least share some with others and try his best to make their life a bit easier then what was the point in even making such a home as he had. It just made no sense to him not to. And she was tiny which proved she did not eat enough her, He could understand being skinny and a bit underweight. But she was beyond that. Walking over towards the little bag he smiled and picked it up, then walked closer to her and placed it gently in her hand and closed her hand around it.
"Their does not need to be a reason for some one to be nice and help another out. Maybe it is strange in this place due to all the bad. But their is good as well. Im a leader of a peaceful gang any way and seeing how its just you and your brother I see no reason not to offer my help. And such a little fragile girl like you should not be bothered with the issues and fighting from the other gangs It just not fair. You are the type who needs confidence and some one around to tell you not to worry and help build it up."
He hoped his response was enough to make his point. It was not often he talked with those out of his gange but the loners who chose no sides where about the only people in a group he offered aid to. Seeing how many over time came to join him any way. It was better to make them feel cared for safe and see they are not just some other body for him to deal with. That was not how he liked things, He always made it a point to meet new members and welcome them. It was polite and helped build a conection these people trusted in him and where all like family.
You know to keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

It felt like her insides where shrinking when he touched her, she wasn't sure she liked being touched. Nobody did other than Amri. Sometimes her parents had pat her head, sometimes kids at school had pulled her hair or tripped her, and sometimes doctors had needed to touch her for thing, but the only person who really touched her in any significant way was her brother. It made her uncomfortable. It was like she was back at the hospital, getting brain scans, being taught how to interact with people. She remembered the doctors trying to tell her how to shake hands with people but she didn't want to and they said she was wrong, it was normal. But it wasn't normal for her...
Nor did he seem normal. He talked about peace and helping people out. That's not how it was around here. Amri came back with wounds all over him, wounds he had earned in a fight over this amount of food. It set off an alarm in her head, the alarm that told her someone might be trying to trick her. Doctors had said she had paranoid tendencies, but Amri had told her to listen to those instincts, because it was better to be safe than sorry. He told her to never trust anybody and that he was the only person who never lied to her. And he was telling the truth, which meant she had to be suspicious.
“You...you know about my brother?” she asked in a wavering voice. They were watching them. Their little corner of the forest wasn't safe. He said he had a peaceful gang but she didn't know that, he could be watching her and Amri and waiting for a time to try and strike them. It was too neat. She'd read enough history books to know when things were going too well it meant something bad was coming around the corner. They probably already had Amri and were hurting him and they were going to use her to make him tell them whatever they wanted, and then they'd kill him and she'd be alone. She closed her hands over her ears and squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head. “No no no do not hurt him...”
