Carmindy had also immediately brightened when Heather had, proud of herself for asking the right question to make things lighter and less awkward. She thought it would be nice to be a shape-shifter. She could've related to Mikkles so much more and done a lot more things, like walking a fence or whatever, though she got the feeling she would've probably done less playing in the river if she'd been a shape-shifter that was part cat. Carmindy wondered if there were any that were part fish. That'd be interesting. What if they accidentally shifted when they were out of water?
She brushed aside that thought and continued to listen to Heather, being a shape-shifter sounded interesting, and Heather was lucky she had her mind to herself. Well, mostly, anyway. It wasn't so private now that Carmindy was around, Carmindy realized. She didn't like feeling like she would always be stumbling and blundering along into people's minds, she wished she could control herself better.
In answer to Heather's question, she shrugged and smiled a bit, thinking, "It's loud, and rather weird, and you get headaches a lot. 'm not trained, and that's only because I didn't have anybody else I knew who was a telepath and I only found out a couple of months ago. We just thought I had a mild case of Schizophrenia." She paused, "But I'm starting to find it very interesting too... everybody's thoughts are different in the way they come at you."

Heather listened carefully, nodding, being a Telepath didn't sound extremely amazing-but like she had said, she wasn't trained yet. She was sure with practice she'd be better. Heather remembered when she was young, she had the huge problem with shifting at any sort of strong emotion. It was a little embarrassing, to shift into a mouse any time someone tried to talk to her. But with practice Heather had become much better at controlling her shifts.
"Well I'd expect that honestly. Like how everyone has a different voice, everyone thinks differently. You're just lucky that you can experience the different vibes, whereas everyone else will never be able to understand others like you." she said, giving a shrug and looking back at the ceiling as she rested her head against the wall. Slowly the light became dimmer from outside. "I'm sure that you'll get the hang of it soon."
She wondered for a moment why the floor and ceiling were concrete, but then she figured it was for the fire elementals. Wouldn't want to burn a wooden house down, would they? It was a shame that they had to live in such cold, unfriendly homes before. But then again, a bed and a roof was better than nothing. "So, what do you know about Sangvene? I can, you know, answer any questions or even give you a few pointers about the place." she offered, hoping she'd be able to help the girl last past the first few weeks. They were always the toughest.

A tiny smile graced Carmindy's face and she chuckled slightly when Heather thought about shifting into a mouse like that. Carmindy almost wished she could've done that, it might've made it easier to avoid people. She wondered what being a mouse was like too, but decided against asking.
She wondered how she'd learn to use her power. She didn't know where the best place to find a fellow, friendly, telepath would be. So far, Heather'd been the only person Carmindy had met that didn't want to kill her, eat her, or something of that sort. Carmindy knew she'd need to think of something so that she could get better with her power, because right now, it was her only advantage over people. She wasn't big, she wasn't strong, and she wasn't even that incredibly clever. She was just a mousy girl from Scotland with an undeveloped telepathic ability. She huffed and then asked Heather, "I'm...assuming the best time to walk around the camp is during the day... what's the best place for people like us...you know... who can't really fight... to get stuff?" She was hesitant about this question because it didn't really feel right coming out of her mouth. It was still sinking in that she was actually here.

Heather nodded, "It's always best to get to shelter before nightfall. There are many nocturnal species here-and they tend to be the most dangerous. Like Vampires and Werewolves." she shivered. "For supplies, it's... It's difficult. I find most of my things in the forest, with enhanced senses it's easier to find food-like berries and nuts and beans. For other supplies..." she trailed off. It wasn't easy. Everything was fought for with tooth, nail, claw, fang... What she found was usually pure luck, or no one wanted it. Like books and clothes.
"It's best to hope you can get to supplies before someone else, or scavange for them in the forest. If you knew hoe to hunt that'd be handy... but I'm a vegetarian-so I can't." she said firmly. She had decided a while ago she wasn't going to give up on her vegetarianism ever, even if it meant starvation. It was the one thing she could hold onto from home... even in a place like this...
Heather gave a little sigh and turned her cheek to the wall, the concrete cold but soothing. She remembered back at home her mother would scratch her behind her ears, even in her human form. She always said she let her be a cat too much for her own good. But she had to push away the memories of her gentle mother and think about now. Think about survival. No... Think about Carmindy. "Supplies are hard to come by for rouges, and when you do... well it's grab and run. You're going to want to take care of what you have already too."

Carmindy nodded. She could do that, grab in run, she'd always been a fast runner. Maybe not fast enough to get away from anything on four-legs... but even with her short legs she'd been able to run fast. She'd always enjoyed that, the wind rushing in her ears, the world racing by her as her feet pounded out a rhythm that she could concentrate on. She felt like she could run from anything, run away from the voices and the loudness and to solace and freedom.
She couldn't run away from Sangvene... but she could run, and maybe that would be something that she could use to her advantage. She wasn't incredibly graceful or agile, but she was fast, and she knew that because of how she had always been able to beat the kids in her neighborhood at foot races, or been able to cross the river before Angus, or go for a run and make it home before anyone even knew she was missing. For the first time, at the mention of running, Carmindy felt a bit better.

Heather looked up to the window once more, the last rays of light fading completely from the dim rays that had touched the ceiling. Heather was used to the dark, and had never been afraid of it. Many saw her as someone that would be afraid of the dark, but it was quite the contrary when it came with Heather. She was part feline so the dark seemed to invite her in rather than scare her. Not that she had a feline's eyes in the dark as a human, but she didn't mind it at all.
She hoped that Carmindy wouldn't mind the dark, she knew many people were afraid of it-even if she herself wasn't. She'd have to get used to the dark though, as it faded every night and there were almost no other ways to have light that were safe on your own. That was another thing, "You're going to want to get into a group, if you can." she added.
Heather pushed away from the wall and laid down on the floor, streching her arm out and using it as a pillow for her head. She gave a small sigh as her eyes felt heavy. "We should go to sleep now. The morning comes early, and it's best to leave as early as possible-if you can."

Carmindy nodded, pulling her duffel bag around and using it as a pillow, she laid down as well. Tonight was going to be quite a lot better than last night, last night had been spent being woken up by something or other and having to run. She hoped that nobody would find them here and she could rest a bit. Her mind was always tired at the end of the day, and sleep would help her mild headache. She thought a blanket would be nice... but she hadn't thought to bring one. She'd assumed that wherever she was going would have them. Maybe sometime she'd get lucky and stumble across one.
She wondered what group she'd end up joining, if she ended up joining one at all. She knew she probably wouldn't do well on her own, if these past two days were any indicator. She hadn't a clue which groups were safe and which weren't though. She sighed softly, missing her bed at home and the sound of her cat's breathing next to her while the rain poured down outside. She missed everything about home, even the idle chatter of Ego and Myself. Heather's thoughts were soft and quiet in comparison, and it sounded and felt strange.
She'd never been fond of the dark, and it was almost worse without her constant companions of voices that used to keep her company until she fell asleep. As she lay awake that night, listening, every once in awhile she'd here whispers that were carried to her on the wind. Whispers of many, many different types of minds. Some seemed almost friendly, most were nearly the opposite. She rolled over, curling up as she realized that this would probably be her new background noise for...who knows how long she would be here. She might as well get used to it. Finally, in a few minutes, she allowed her mind to wander and her breathing steadied, and she dropped off into a restless sleep.

The sky had lightened considerably when Heather awoke. She always awoke in the same position, no matter what or where she was she always woke in a tight ball with all her limbs tucked close to her chest. It was this morning she wished she had a tail, as the night had gotten pretty cold apparently as she was nearly shivering. After a while she had gotten used to sleeping through uncomfortable environments, though she still was a light sleeper towards noise.
She leaned up and stretched her arms up with a yawn. Birds could be heard chirping outside and the sun was once again letting beams of light dazzle the ceiling. She rubbed her bare arms and wished she had a jacket or something, but she'd soon be covered in fur or feathers, so she didn't bother try warming herself up other than that. She looked to Carmindy, she wasn't sure if she should try and wake her yet-but she wanted to say goodbye-and the pain in her belly was aching considerably from the lack of food the past few days.
She decided to leave her for a bit, and stretch her muscles out first. She instantly shifted into her most comfortable shape, her feline shape. Her light blue eyes remained the same, but her body turned into a lithe cat with soft, long white fur. She jumped up onto the window and stared out into the distance. The sun had risen only about an hour ago and the light on her newly awakened eyes made her squint. She opened her mouth and tasted the air, it was cold and fresh and the dew was cold on the window sill. A soft wind brushed against her fur and though it lacked the taste of salt and sand-it reminded her of home.

Slivers of light poked their way into Carmindy's mind as she slowly woke, feeling cold, stiff, sore, and hungry. She groaned a bit and sat up, brushing off the dust that'd found its way onto her cardigan from the night before. She looked around for Heather, but didn't see her. What she did see was white, fluffy cat. She blinked. Heather did say that she could shape-shift into a cat... to be honest, Carmindy didn't know that much about shape-shifting. Could she still speak...well...human? She could probably understand it, after all, Carmindy still had Heather's mind in the back of her own, though it was noticeably more wild... she was guessing that would be the feline side of her. Carmindy thought she'd still be able to understand Heather, if Heather focused her thoughts. She stood and walked over slowly, leaning against the wall. "So I'm guessing you're Heather in cat-form... if you're not...well I guess I'm talking to a cat-" She chuckled softly, "Which is not unlike me. If you're Heather- you don't have to shift back if you don't want to."

Heather turned to see Carmindy was up and her eyes brightened in amusement at her words. So much it could almost be seen as a smile, but cats couldn't smile-so the essence of happiness was all that could appear on Heather's face. She purred and gave a sharp nod to tell her she was indeed Heather, the cat. She turned and looked out the window, flicking her ears slightly as she tried to tell if there was anyone or... anything else nearby-but the most she could tell was a few birds on the roof and a maybe a mouse across in the dirt, looking for food probably.
She turned back to Carmindy and suddenly got an idea. If she could read her mind, maybe she could try and message her through it? Her eyes narrowed a little, thinking slowly, before turning back out the window with her eyes closed naturally. Her parents were very big on meditation, and her father actually conducted groups in their greenhouse where they all relaxed in meditation. It was all about drawing the idle thoughts and calming them, listening to the nearby ocean and smelling the beautiful flowers. Heather had never been a big fan, she was already so relaxed from reading, but she had found it very useful in here.
She slowly let her body relax, as her father had taught her, imagining a glowing, white light trickling down her body. Slowly her thoughts relax and she was able to focus on three words. Can... Hear... Me.... She let out a soft purr from her chest, the rumbling soothing her more into relaxation. Her father was amazing at leading guided meditations. Once, he helped her remember where she had left his book she had been reading but had forgotten. She always thought her father was just a little silly with the Reiki, the gemstones, he seemed to know everything about it.

Carmindy grinned when Heather nodded. She then stared out the window, feeling more at ease than she ever had with the familiar presence of a friendly cat at her side. Sometimes Heather's tail would little whap against her arm, and Carmindy liked that, it reminded her of Mikkles.
The quiet, light thoughts that were breezing by her from Heather were refreshing, and Carmindy found them easy to forget about and let them fade into background noise. That changed when Heather began to purr and focus more. She blinked when she heard three words being pushed to the forefront.
Can...hear...me
Carmindy looked sharply at Heather and then grinned, "I can hear you, yeah. Though... I don't know, does concentrating like that give you headaches..." She paused, "Do cats get headaches?" She found herself scratching Heather behind the ear the way Mikkles liked it.

Carmindy nodded, understanding. She felt a small wave of panic as she watched Heather leave, though. She was hungry, and she hadn't the slightest idea how to wander about Sangvene in daylight. She decided she might as well gather up her things and head off to the forest to find something.
She walked over and slung her bag up on her shoulder, climbing out the window and letting herself down through it. Then, she turned and walked off in what she hoped was the direction of the forest.
